Today we got a few miles in, starting in Visalia. Beautiful day today, real sunny but a nice cool breeze to cut the heat coming from our floorboard and firewall. Before insulation, the firewall was about 130, we got it down to a nice cool 115! Had a good drive down to Bakersfield through the orange groves and oil fields. I have to say, I much preferred the orange fields, especially when accompanied by a cheap taco truck. We're currently at Trout's, an 82 year old honky-tonk bar in the Oildale region of Bakersfield. Enjoying live rehearsal of J.P. Harris and the Tough Choices, playing along with Red Simpson himself! From here we'll go on to Tehachapi to stay the night, with my step-aunt who I've not met before. Just puttin' along across California!
